Simply Grapefruit

One grapefruit a week so I won’t get tired of it. Half teaspoon of sugar makes it much sweeter without adding too much calories. One serving is less than 50 calories, which makes it a healthy breakfast or/and a guilt-free snack.

My go-to weekend breakfast. While I get constantly hungry at office from morning to evening, I’m pretty okay not munching on weekends. I’d like to start my morning with cups of coffee and a half of grapefruit with a dash of sugar. I don’t like sour food, but a dash of sugar (half teaspoon) makes a world of difference. Once I’m done with eating the “meat” of the fruit, I squeeze the juice into the bowl I was eating and drink it all.

I’d like to cut my grapefruit in the way that I can scoop out of the fruit with a spoon. There are other ways to cut the fruit of course. But I like my way the best because 1) my finger won’t get sticky, 2) I can sprinkle sugar evenly, and 3) the serving bowl is there to catch all the left over meat and juice. I can eat it and drink it too.

And whatever left goes to my compost bin, of course.

Why do I eat this?

Loads of Vitamin C (59% of daily value) just from half fruit from just half of the fruit with little calories (less than 50 calories per serving). I also wanna believe the hype about grapefruit as a weight loss food. Do I know if that’s true? No…but I feel like I can keep my weight better if I eat grapefruit on regular base ( 1 – 2 times a week). I also wanna say it helps reduce my pimple breakouts…but then there are so many other factors, so I don’t know…I just like to believe it does help. And less than a buck for a breakfast? That’s pretty economical.
